The tradition of a shoe factory: how each pair of Lottusse begins

Lottusse is not just a brand of footwear; it is the result of over a century of artisan tradition. The shoe factory, set in Mallorca, is a place where knowledge is passed down from generation to generation, and each pair of shoes is the reflection of a legacy that has never been forgotten. In every part of the factory, the sound of manual labour resounds, as the production process is deeply rooted in human skill.

Each shoe begins with selecting the best leather, which is treated with the utmost care. From the moment the leather enters the factory, a team of artisans take on the responsibility of cutting it, moulding it and sewing it with precision. At Lottusse, production is not just an industrial process, but a combination of craftsmanship and a passion for excellence.

What makes a handmade leather shoe unique?

The secret to making high-quality shoes lies in the skill of the artisans themselves. Each pair of handmade leather shoes has a unique personality. It’s not just the leather that makes the difference, but the way in which it is worked and moulded. Lottusse shoes are renowned for their durability, comfort and, above all, their timeless design.

The leather used for Lottusse shoes is carefully selected for its ability to last and its softness. Unlike mass production methods, handmade shoes make it easier to monitor the details and the quality of the end product. The artisans’ work ensures that each pair of shoes fits the wearer perfectly, offering unparalleled comfort that you simply cannot find with other production methods.

Discover more about each artisan shoe production technique

Each technique used at Lottusse is designed to maximise comfort, durability and appearance. With a combination of traditional methods and modern technology, Lottusse has developed some of the best shoe production techniques in the world.

Goodyear construction: durability and fit

Goodyear construction is one of the most exclusive techniques used at Lottusse, standing out for its durability, elegance and exceptional craftsmanship. This method, which originated in England, is recognised all over the world for its incredible durability and quality. Discover our Goodyear shoe collection for men

At Lottusse, the Goodyear technique involves using just one sewing angle, joining the different pieces of the shoe in 360º artisan production to an inner lip, which is the core of the Goodyear construction. Together with the stitching of the welt, which unites the upper and the sole into a single structure. The overlapping of elements, the interior insulation, the double stitching of the sole and the careful selection of the best leather result in a shoe of unmatched quality and longevity.
The shoes produced with Goodyear not only offer a structure that is more resistant to wear, but it also allows the sole to be repaired, thereby prolonging its lifespan. This type of construction also offers a better fit, providing superior comfort that intensifies over time, due to the inner cork chamber, which adapts to the shape of your footprint. Discover our Goodyear shoe collection for women

Blake construction: lightweight and precise

Blake construction is another method used by Lottusse to make high-quality shoes. This type of construction is lighter than Goodyear as the sole is sewn directly onto the inside of the shoe. In addition, it is the system we use to create lighter shoes that do not require a leather welt to give structure to the shoe. This provides increased flexibility and a more precise fit. Blake shoes are ideal for those seeking a more elegant and modern design without sacrificing comfort.

Segmented construction: ideal for women’s footwear and ceremony shoes

Segmented construction is perfect for creating elegant shoes, especially those for special occasions or for women. This process involves a very meticulous preparation of the sole for the assembly of different leather pieces, allowing for the creation of more complex and sophisticated designs. With this technique, Lottusse can offer delicate, refined models without sacrificing comfort.

Guanto construction: flexibility and comfort

Guanto construction stands out for its exceptional flexibility and comfort, as it is built like a glove. Mainly used in more lightweight and sporty shoes, this technique allows the shoe to fit like a glove, offering unbeatable comfort. The key to Guanto construction likes in the cushioned interior, offering softness that adapts to the shape of the foot.  Discover our selection of footwear crafted using our exclusive Guanto technique

Blake Hull: the exclusive Lottusse technique

The Blake Hull is a technique that combines the best of Blake construction with an original variant of the Kiowa Indian technique. Exclusive to Lottusse, this technique creates a structure that is both extremely durable and flexible at the same time. The use of expanded EVA rubber and a customised sole wrapped in leather gives the shoe exceptional durability without losing its lightness.
